Yes, it’s true. The Simple Gear Stool doesn’t have the more sophisticated look that its bigger brother has. But don’t let the exterior fool you: this guy is a powerhouse. It has something that its arrogant brother doesn’t have: Simplicity. While the advanced version needs different wood widths to create the base and legs, the Simple Gear Stool uses (2) 1x4x8’s that can be purchased at any hardware store.
Simple measuring diagrams make notching the legs a snap, but this guy comes with a set of patterns you can use if you don’t trust your measuring. You’ll simply add double sided tape to each leg and glue the pattern to the top, cutting all 4 legs out at one time on the bandsaw.
